Noah James Mackwood 1999 – 2025

Noah's pic with datesWith immense sorrow, we share the news of the passing of our beloved son and brother, Noah, in Sechelt, BC. He was diagnosed at birth with Neurofibromatosis (NF), a genetic disorder that posed numerous challenges throughout his life. As a toddler, he overcame a terminal leukaemia diagnosis thanks to a bone marrow transplant, a gift from our angel donor, Ute. This miracle allowed Noah to enjoy his childhood and teenage years participating in local sports as well as his lifelong passion for cooking. He graduated from South Surrey schools and fulfilled culinary arts coursework in pursuit of his dream of becoming a Red Seal chef. Noah accomplished these undertakings while simultaneously battling another NF-related challenge, scoliosis. More recently, NF struck again in the form of a malignant brain tumour that proved too formidable to overcome. Noah passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family.

We cherished the wonderful years we spent with Noah as he blossomed into a remarkable young man with boundless hopes and dreams. Noah was an old soul, wise beyond his years. He was exceptionally stoic in the face of all adversity his body encountered, never complaining about his illnesses. Noah shared his charm, infectious smiles, quick wit, and laughter with everyone he met. He taught us invaluable lessons and enriched our lives in countless ways. In recent years, Noah played a pivotal role in relocating his parents and their home to the Sunshine Coast. His contributions will continue to inspire his family as they develop their Sechelt property.

The family expresses its deepest gratitude to all the doctors, nurses, and staff, particularly those at Sechelt Hospital, the BC Cancer Agency at VGH, Children’s Hospital in Vancouver, for their unwavering care and support during Noah’s journey, as well as the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

Noah is survived by his parents, Robert and Diane, his brothers Daniel (Lauren) and Aidan (Jessica), and his grandmother, Betty van Vliet. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Morgan Creek Golf Course on May 2, from 1 to 4 pm. Instead of flowers, we kindly request making a donation to the Tumour Foundation of BC in honour of Noah.
